Alberto Orona Madrid

Alberto Orona Madrid Sr.  passed away in his home on Sunday November 19th, 2023, in Temple Texas.

Alberto was born in Pecos, Texas on November 18th, 1950, to Jose Flores Madrid & Sylbestra Orona Madrid.

He served in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer with the U.S. Army.  After getting out of the Army, Albert married Mary Ellen Martinez, his wife of 52 years on December 12, 1970.  They moved to Temple in 1989, where they lived since.  He started working at Wilsonart as a truck driver and was blessed to retire at the age of 56.

Albert dedicated his retired life to, spending time with friends, bingo, working around his house, always building or fixing things, he enjoyed watching football games with his sons, drinking a few cold ones and listening to Tejano music.  He did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.  His Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren kept him active and on the go.

Albert was a man loved and admired by many, a man truly dedicated to his faith, to his country-living his life to the fullest.

Visitation will start at 6pm on Tuesday November 28th, 2023, followed by his Rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10am on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Belton Texas, burial with military honors will be at 1pm at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery, Killeen TX.

Alberto is survived by his wife Mary Ellen of Temple Texas, his two sons Alberto Madrid Jr. & wife Adriana of Midland Texas, and Armando Madrid & wife Maria of Belton, Texas, brother Armando Madrid of Monahans, Texas, Sisters Yolanda Navarette of Monahans, Texas, Elodia Barreno of Stanton, Texas, and Susie Madrid of Pecos, Texas. along with 7 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren, and many many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Joe Madrid.
