Belton--- Funeral services for Col. (Ret) James E. Tuck, 81, of Salado will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at the Salado United Methodist Church with Rev. Travis Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at the Salado Cemetery. Mr. Tuck died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at his home in Salado. Mr. Tuck was born December 30, 1928 in Virgilina, Virginia, the son of Benjamin Poole and Cleo (Gravitt) Tuck. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech. in Blacksburg, Virginia and the Air War College, Maxwell AFB in Alabama. He married Sue Ann Hodges November 2, 1957 in Norman, Oklahoma. He retired as Colonel from the United States Air Force, December 1979 after 26 years of service. He was the recipient of The Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross and the Meritorious Service Medal, flying several combat tours in Vietnam. Mr. Tuck retired to Salado in 1980. He was an avid gardener and loved antique clocks. His buying and selling of antique clocks led to Tucks Tic Toc at Springhouse in Salado. He was a member of the Salado Lions Club and the Salado Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Quiet Bird Men and the Order of the Daedalians. Survivors include his wife Sue Ann Tuck of Salado, son Jeffrey Tuck and wife Nancy of Pearland; two daughters Julie Lutz and husband Bill of Salado and Janet Croftcheck and husband Mike of Salado. Two sisters Lottie Nunn of Virgilina, VA and Eva Conduff of Roanoke, VA. Eight grandchildren. James Lutz, Jerod Lutz, Jonathan Tuck, Emry Tuck, William Tuck, Katy Croftcheck, Kylie Croftcheck, Evan Croftcheck. Great grandchild Talon Lutz. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
