Nelta Dean Schiller

Belton--- Nelta Dean (Christie) Schiller, 82, of Belton, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2010 at a Temple Nursing Center. She was born May 4, 1928 in Holland, the daughter of Floyd P. and Audrey (Elza) Christie. She graduated from Holland High School in 1945 and worked for Scott &White Memorial Hospital from February 1949 until retiring in February 1998. She started as a PBX Operator and was Communication Manager the last 27 years of her 49 years of service with her "Scott & White Family." She married Albert (Al) Schiller in 1971; he preceded her in death in 1998. She was also preceded in death by her father in 1959 and her mother in 2000. Remaining loving survivors include her brother, Gaylon Christie and wife Jane of Nolanville, sister Beavelly Kohring and husband Lee Roy of Rogers, uncle J. B. Elza of Temple, three nephews, Monte Kohring, Steven Kohring and Michael Schiller, four nieces Michele Jaeger, Denise Martin, Julie Hagey and Tammy Grygar, plus 14 grand nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Annie and Cuddles and Tiger, her cat. Nelta was a member of the Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church at Lake Belton. She was also a member of Ladies Fellowship Circle, Scott & White Pioneers Club, Bluebonnet/Riverside Family Community Education Club, Heritage Club, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 0133 & Spirit Club. She was an avid animal lover, especially dogs. Many will remember her as the "Hat Lady" for her numerous styles and colors of hats that she wore so proudly and so well. She was also noted for her special attire and Jewelry for each Holiday and Season. Her nieces and nephews will remember as youngsters, her scary "Oscar & Leona" ghost stories. She was quite a lady and a very loving sister, aunt and friend, to all who knew her. Memorials may be sent to Anchor of Hope Fellowship, 5700 FM 439, Belton TX 76513 or Scott & White Cancer Research Center, 2401 S. 31 St. Temple, TX 76508. Dossman Funeral Home of Belton is in charge of arrangements, where the family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, September 12 from 5-7 PM. Services will be at 10:00 AM will be held Monday at the Anchor of Hope Fellowship Church with Rev. Sam Callaway officiating. Burial will follow at Little Flock Cemetery east of Temple.
