Funeral services for Willie Lou Webb Prickett, 96, of Belton, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 12, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton with Shannon Soard, Temple Bible Church pastor, officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

The family will receive friends for visitation at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Prickett died Thursday, April 4, 2024, in a Belton nursing home.

Mrs. Prickett was born May 28, 1927, in San Angelo, Texas, the daughter of Carlos and Zula Webb. While studying music at Julliard in New York City she joined in the celebration of  VE Day, Victory in Europe Day of World War II. She was a graduate of the University of Southern California where she was first chair trombone in the marching band.  At USC she participated in  the Rose Bowl Parade, where Bob Hope teased her throughout the parade.

She married Jack Prickett, in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1952. After their marriage she resided in Belton, Lewisville,and  Plano, Texas; Russellville, Arkansas; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.   She was a faithful Christian who was involved in her church wherever she lived.   She was a member of God's Handmaidens in Plano where she helped to integrate the group with its first black member.   She worked as a teacher, including music in several locations and worked for several companies as well as being a homemaker.

Mrs. Prickett was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Betty Jo Webb Herboldsheimer and a brother, Harlan Webb.

Survivors include four sons, Greg Prickett of Irving, Jerry Prickett of Belton, Randall Prickett of Addison and Kenneth Prickett of Temple, 2 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
