William Lee Knight, Jr
Belton – William Lee Knight Jr, 86, of Belton entered the kingdom of heaven on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born October, 7, 1931 in Belton, to William Lee and Annie Lee Knight. Bill had a strong work ethic and lifelong commitment to serving others. Everything he was and everything he did centered on family, friends and community.
Bill graduated from Belton High School in 1948 and on January 12, 1951, married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Juanita Raborn . After proudly serving in the National Guard, Bill enjoyed a successful career with the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation for 43 years until his retirement in 1991.
Bill was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener, a marble shooting expert, and enthusiastic volunteer for community programs including Special Olympics, Marching 100 Band Boosters, and Children’s Miracle Network . He was always ready to lend a helping hand and always with a friendly smile. His legacy of love will inspire generations to come.
Bill was preceded in death by a son, Curtis (Bubba) in 2017. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Marjorie of Belton, sons Joe Knight of Belton and Gary Knight of Belton, daughters Sandra Rourke of Belton and Pamela Thompson of Salado, 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton, followed by burial at North Belton Cemetery. First Baptist Church Belton Pastor Andy Davis will officiate.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
