Willa Dean Coleman, 93, of Belton, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 in a Temple Hospital. No Services are planned.
Dean was born September 10, 1927, in Paris, Arkansas, the daughter of Lawrence Albert Redding and
Freda Elmon (Pendergrass) Redding. She married Kenneth Jerald Johnson on June 15, 1944, and he died June 17,
1950. She later married Albert A. "Sonny" Homan, Jr. on May 30, 1952, and he died December 26, 1977. She worked in
civil service at Ft. Chaffee, AR, then Ft. Hood, TX, rising to the position of Traffic Manager, Chief of Transportation
Division, retiring after 35 years with the rank of GS13. Dean lived in Lampasas for 22 years, where she played the
organ for Faith Lutheran Church. She was a member of the local BPW chapter.
On May 23, 1981 she married James R. "Jim" Coleman, and they made their home at Morgan's Point Resort, and later
Belton. She became a licensed HAM Radio Operator. After retirement Dean continued her love of painting, sewing
and playing the piano. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by Mr. Coleman January 6, 2018.
Survivors include two daughters Donna Joyce Brightwell and husband Craig of Harrison, Arkansas and Deborah
June Linville and husband Jerry of Houston; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family thanks the caring staff and loving caregivers of Stoney Brook Belton for their years of support, and the
employees of New Century Hospice for their gentle care as well.
