Wanda Lee Bernhard

July 29, 1942 — June 12, 2023

Wanda Lee Bernhard, 80, of Belton Texas passed away on June 12, 2023. She was preceded in death by a group of people including the people who supported and loved her, along with the people who did her wrong in life.

Her life was full of ups and downs, but Wanda was a sweet woman who always had a smile on her face. Her smile made you feel like you had been her best friend forever. She made friends everywhere she went and loved her family more than anything.

She struggled with a disease for 29 years beating life expectancy by 9 years. This alone gives a person a small window into her strength and determination. She was a homemaker and mother to her four children and always put her family and friends before herself. Wanda was the OG of Bling. If it sparkled or shined, she loved it. Her home decor made you feel like you were walking through a Victorian-style museum with statues and all that the Victorian era represented.

She loved crafts and painting portraits. One of her painting projects included painting eyes on one of her Victorian busts because she felt the statue needed eyes, which turned out to be a very creepy look she found comical.

Record keeping was a priority in her life. She found the secret to keeping items in order was zip lock bags. Zip lock made a fortune from her record keeping alone. We teased her about her “zippy bags”, but all her papers were in order and easily found.

Spending the night with Grandma Bernhard was a fun night of crafts, junk food and scary movies. The scarier the movie the better, which was something that contradicted her sweet personality and demeanor. Family always felt there may have been a secret she held to enjoy these movies so much, but a Christmas present to Wanda always included at least one scary thriller. Her laugh brought out the best smiles and her family gave her plenty of laughter. She could play a good joke on you if you did not pay attention to her sneaky pranks.

Wanda will be extremely missed, as she was the anchor to the family, which will never be the same without her. The family will follow her wishes to look out for each other and love everyone we encounter, a spirit of hers that will never die.

Survivors include her partner in crime, Billy Campbell of Belton, the baby Patrick Bernhard (Theresa) of Kempner, daughter Patricia Andrews of Kempner, son Nicholas Trist of Lampasas and oldest Darlene (Charles) Covin of Copperas Cove. Grandchildren Christina, Justine, Jerrilynn, Stephanie, Jackie, Sophia, and Krishonda. Many, many great-grandchildren. Best friends in life, Dave, and Trudy Stover of Alabama.
