Walter Taggart dedicated husband, father, and friend passed away June 27, 2023, in Temple, Texas. He was born July 6th, 1941 in Killeen, Texas to Tom and Eloise Taggart.
He is survived by his wife, Rocky Taggart, 2 loving daughters: Sandra Lucas & her husband Dave, Sissy England & her husband Patrick, sisters: Tommie Bale and Shirley Patty, numerous nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Melton Taggart, and Eloise Jennings Taggart. His brother Robert (Buddy) Taggart and his sister Laura (Sue) Gilbert. Son-in-law, Dean Minnick, and grandson Logan Minnick.
He was proud to be part of the US Navy and served over 4 years on the USS Ingraham DD-694, Destroyer, achieving the rank of BT-1 during the Cuban Crisis. He always had many good memories of these years and told us the most interesting stories, including getting to meet the Pope in Rome.
Walter was an extremely hard worker, dedicated and determined to provide for his family and give them the best life he could. He worked for Brazos Electric for over 40 years as a High Voltage Lineman.
Walter had a love and passion for wildlife and hunting. There was no place he would rather be than on the deer stand early in the morning watching nature wake up. He was also one of Mary Hardin Baylor’s most avid football fan and enjoyed attending the home games with his friends, Johnny Hunter, and Yogi Prince. GO CRU!
