Funeral services for Virginia “Jean” (Kattner) Mayfield, 94 of Belton, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton with Rev. Justin Childers officiating.   Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.

Mrs. Mayfield died Friday, October 27, 2023, at her home in Belton.

Mrs. Mayfield was born December 30, 1928, in Copperas Cove, the daughter of William Ernst Kattner and Lilly Ogel (Boswank) Kattner.   She grew up in the Trimmier area and was a 1946 graduate of Killeen High School.  She married Milton Herbert “Herb” Mayfield, June 19, 1948, in Killeen.   They lived in Waco for 20 years before making their home in Belton.

Mrs. Mayfield enjoyed cross stitch, crocheting and needlework.  She was a long-time member of Miller Heights Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Herb Mayfield; one son, Ronnie Mayfield and his wife Hazel; three grandchildren, Damien Mayfield, Samantha Mayfield and Robert Mayfield; and two great-grandchildren, Luci and Gwynevere.
