Virginia was born on May 21st, 1921, in Panna Maria, Texas to Timoteo Davila & Soledad Cruz Davila. She was a three-year member of the Centenarian club. Alongside her siblings and parents, Virginia learned the meaning of hard work, grit and determination traveling across the United States as migrant workers. Virginia loved horses and often reminisced about riding bare back, (not side saddle) and beating the local boys in races. She was a lover of coffee with cinnamon, telling stories about her life, learning about the happenings of her family and dreaming of her hacienda that was surrounded by sprawling orchards of fruit trees. Virginia did not have the opportunity to attend school but remains one of the most resourceful, intelligent, witty and determined women that many people have ever met. She raised 4 strong daughters by working as a Harlingen, Texas entrepreneur. While she did not have a brick-and-mortar business per se, she used her amazing ability to communicate to sell cars, appliances, furniture to ensure that her children were provided for. While life was not always easy, Virginia met each challenge and adversity head on and with a sound plan to conquer. She leaves a legacy of priceless life lessons, love for the Lord, and has been a true role model for all who were blessed to know her.
While she will be missed dearly, her family is left with rich memories of her sass, opinionated nature, love for Hershey kisses and deep sense of pride for the family who she served as the Matriarch to. Virginia was blessed with grandchildren: Jacqueline Andrade (Edi) of Lubbock, Texas, Andra Andrade of Dallas, Texas, Andre Andrade (Susannah) of Galveston, Texas, Lorena Ruiz (Ben) of Houston, Texas, Diana Tobar (Mike) of Temple, Texas, Christy Vasquez of Temple, Texas, Elias Alexander Maizumi of Austin, Texas and Mona Villarreal-Churchwell of Temple, Texas. Her extensive family tree also included 23 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
On behalf of Virginia's family, we would like to express gratitude to the beautiful care team that she was blessed with, especially Nurse Jackie. Virginia is survived by her daughters; Dahlia Ayala-Silva of (Dallas, Texas), Virginia & husband Ben Vasquez of Temple, Texas, and Oralia & husband Raymond Villarreal of Temple, Texas, and granddaughter, who she raised, Denise & husband Julio Alvarez of Austin, Texas.
Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Timoteo & Soledad Cruz Davila, siblings Margarita Diaz, Domingo Davila & Juan Davila, along with granddaughter Erika Berta Villarreal Olvera.
