Stephen Francis Hanna

July 14, 1997 — April 17, 2023

On the morning of April 17, 2023, Stephen Francis Hanna surrendered his soul into the merciful hands of his loving God and Father. Stephen, 25, was born on July 14, 1997 at Ft. Hood, Texas to Charles L. and Paula J. (Hugunine) Hanna.

He was educated in Belton schools and was a member of the inaugural class of Belton New Tech High at Waskow in 2015.

He became a certified nurse's aide and worked at Park Place Manor, for Kindred Hospice and most recently for Creekside Terrace Rehabilitation.  Stephen had a gift for dealing with the elderly and the dying.  He was beloved by all his patients.

He was a Catholic and a member of Christ the King Parish where he had been an altar server, Eucharistic Minister and Adult Minister of the Altar.

Stephen enjoyed fishing, hiking and being in nature.  He was a past member of Boy Scout Troop 117 and The Order of the Arrow.  He spent several summers on the staff of Camp Tahuaya and also earned the Pope Pius XII Catholic religious emblem.

He was a bright young man who quickly learned new skills with only a brief demonstration by his father. He was willing to tote shingles, move appliances, help clear downed tree limbs and was an invaluable help in various other rent house repairs.

In his free time he was a passionate video game player.

Stephen is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Charles and Fadine (Tidwell) Hanna, maternal grandmother Rita Wells Hugunine, and brother John Patrick Hanna.

He leaves to mourn his loss: his parents; significant other, Jessica McCann and her three children, Michael, Esme and Eliana; five brothers, SSC Michael Hanna and wife Rebecca of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, Capt Jeffrey Hanna and wife Julia of Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, Capt Christopher Hanna and fiancee Miranda Hernandez of Hurlburt Field, Florida, meat cutter David Hanna of Belton and A1C Patrick Hanna of Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, one sister, registered nurse Mary Kate Hanna of Belton and two half-brothers, Charles B.
