Sonya Michele Garcia, 51, of Belton, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021, in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 17, 2021 at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jackie Cox officiating.
The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 PM, Friday.
Sonya was born May 14, 1970, in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Randall H. Clark and Diana (Skewis) Carby. She attended New Albany High School in Indiana and received her final degree from Central Texas College. Sonya was married to Daniel Garcia May 27, 1999, in Temple. She was an accounting clerk for Stanley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Gatesville, and was very involved with the Coryell County and Levita
Volunteer Fire Departments as an administrator and grant writer. Sonya was preceded in death by her grandparents and in-laws.
Survivors include her husband Daniel Garcia, father and stepmother Randall and Gail Clark of Tennessee; mother and stepfather, Diana and Larry Carby of Alabama, son Michael Randall Garcia of Belton; two daughters Brittany Garcia (Mitchell McMahon) of Georgia, Shelby Newman (Aaron Ashby) of Utah; four brothers Kenneth Clark (Monica) of Kentucky, Randall Clark (Zara Greene) of Alabama, Chris Carby (Leasi) of Alabama and Ernie Collins(Mandy) of Tennessee; one sister Paula Fendley of Kentucky.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister. She gained the friendship of everyone she met, and was an avid animal lover and rescued many pets. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and many other crafts. Being from Pennsylvania, Sonya was a big Steelers fan, and enjoyed many nights of watching footballwith her husband.
