Private graveside services for S. M. "Dickie" Brown Jr, 83, of Temple, were held at North Belton Cemetery with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating.
Mr. Brown peacefully passed away, Wednesday, January 15, 2024, in a Temple nursing home.
Mr. Brown was born at home on 39th Street in Temple, March 16, 1941. He grew up helping his dad, who was a builder in Temple and the surrounding area. He and his father also owned Lakeside Hardware/ S. M. Brown & Son.
Dickie attended and sang in the choir at both Memorial Baptist Church in Temple and Lake Belton Baptist Church in Belton before moving to Stephenville, San Angelo and then Round Rock. He made friends easily and surprised many with the skills he learned. His mom and dad truly loved and cared for him, for he was special.
He loved fishing and grew up fishing on the newly made Belton Lake. He also enjoyed watching westerns and enjoyed Alvin and the Chipmunks. He was a collector of many things including pencils, socks, notebooks, and business cards.
He was preceded in death by his parents, S. M. Brown, Sr. and Annie Rozelle (Morgan) Brown.
Survivors include one sister Elizabeth "Annie" (Brown) Brown and her husband Eldon; a niece Jennifer (Brown) Tintsman and her husband James.
