Rodney Allan Simonds

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday evening at Dossman Funeral Home.

Mr. Simonds died Thursday, March 23, 2023 at his home.

Mr. Simonds was born June 20, 1941 in Reading, Massachusetts.   He was a veteran of the United States Army.  He married Janis Nell Turnbo December 16, 1963, at Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton.   Mr. Simonds worked for the City of Belton Water Department for 30 years.

He was a deacon at Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton.  He was a longtime member of the American Legion  Post 55 in Belton, serving as Chaplain.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janis Simonds of Belton, one son Rodney Simonds Jr. and wife Shannon of Belton; one daughter Debra Spence and husband Jay of Belton; one brother Michael Largay and wife Janie of Key West, Florida; five grandchildren, Brandy Stanford and husband David, Samantha Shiplett and husband Dustin, Haley Moore, Preston Moore and wife Jordan, and Nicholas Simonds; six great-grandchildren, Noah, Emily, Skylar, Bentley, Harley and Preslynn.
