Richard D. Meyer

July 16, 1929 — March 2, 2019

Richard Meyer was born July 16, 1929 in Iraan, Texas to Raymond Meyer and Cleora F. (McGill) Meyer.  He was a 1948 graduate of Belton Senior High School. In the 50’s, Richard served in the Air Force for 2 years, stationed in Guam.

On April 29, 1950, he married Martha Logue in Belton, Texas.  They were married for 61 years living in San Antonio and Belton, Texas.  Richard worked at the Belton Post Office and in 1963 began Bell Air Conditioning.  He was a part of Bell Air Conditioning for 55 years, later joined by his son, Steve.  They retired together in September of 2017.

Richard and Martha owned and operated Riverside Swimming Pool (now Summer Fun) for a number of years in the 70’s.  Richard enjoyed traveling and was a lover of golf and fishing. He also enjoyed playing Bridge with his special friends at Sammons.

Richard loved his family and friends hosting crowds of 50+ out back of Bell Air under the huge oak tree.  This was a Meyer tradition still carried on today, serving delicious BBQ, hospitality and friendship.

Richard was a member for 55 years at Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton where he also served as a deacon.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Survivors include, 2 sons, Steve Meyer and wife Paula of Belton, Robert Meyer and wife Carlette of Belton, daughter, Patty Linthicum and husband Tony of Buda, Texas.

7 grandchildren, Travis Meyer and wife Holly, Richard Meyer and Brianne, Meredith Meyer, Keith Meyer and wife Alyssa all of Belton, Brittany Cromeans and husband Kevin of Buda, Courtney Hill and husband Brandon of Washington, Drew Ward and wife Julia of Dallas.

10 great grandchildren, Rayne Meyer, Ty Meyer, Alyssabeth Meyer, Avery Meyer, Adelaide Meyer, Ashton Cromeans, Ava Cromeans, Savannah Hill, Logan Ward, Leia Ward
