Rebecca "Becky" Grant

November 5, 1946 — November 25, 2023

On November 5, 1946, in Jonesboro, Louisiana, Rebecca Elizabeth Grant (Jones) was born to parents Robert and Aletha Jones.  Becky was raised throughout the southern states while her father was in the military.  Her mother was a stay-at-home provider for her children.  Becky’s family settled in Copperas Cove, TX where she attended school.  She worked at the local dime store in town from an early age, making many lifelong friends.  Becky graduated from Copperas Cove High School and lived in that area until her early twenties.

She met Tommy Grant on a blind date and the two were married on November 25, 1972, in Fort Worth, TX.  Becky worked for the government in Fort Worth for many years.  She and Tommy later welcomed two children, daughter Gennifer and son Guy.  They raised their family in the DFW suburb of Crowley, TX.  Becky was a PTA mother, rodeo mom and cheerleader for every event her children were involved in.  In the late 80’s, Tommy and Becky moved to the small community of Oscar in east Bell County, where she worked in Temple, TX for the Soil Conservation Service.  Later her government career took her to the VA Hospital in Temple, where she retired after 22 years of service.

Becky was a loyal wife, fiercely protective mother and later became the grandmother “MiMi” to her three grandsons, Ty Grant, Dillon and Dean Brister whom she adored.  She doted on her family, always putting them first.  Becky was a very strong woman, admired by many friends and family.

Becky was received in Heaven by her Savior on Saturday, November 25, 2023, the same day she and husband Tommy celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.  Waiting for her were her beloved sisters-in-law, Shirley, Betty, Dolly, Frances and Dewey, her mother-in-law Mamie, dear friends and family that had gone before her.

She is survived by her loving Tommy, her husband of 51 years of Belton, TX.; her son Guy Grant II of Belton, TX.; her daughter Gennifer Brister and husband Michael of Bend, TX.; Three grandsons Ty Grant of Belton, TX. and Dillon and Dean Brister of Bend, TX.  She is also survived by one sister-in-law Minnie Maddox of Georgetown, TX., sister-in-law Sylvia Stokes of Gatesville, TX., two sisters Wanda Hoel of Gulfport, MS., Ann Ballard of Copperas Cove, TX., as well as two brothers Curt Jones and wife Liz of Copperas Cove, TX. and Joe Jones and wife Charlotte of Hallendale, FL.  Becky had numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews from all over Texas whom she loved and adored.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in her memory.
