Patty (as she was affectionately known) was born June 20, 1967, in San Diego, California to Jack and Esther Legg.
She was the baby of the family with seven sisters and no brothers. Patty grew up and attended school in California until sixth grade when her family moved to Grapevine, Texas. Patty really enjoyed math in school and I'm sure that was a plus when she worked in banking. Jim and Patty met at a New Year's Eve party hosted by her sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Pat Anderson. They began dating, fell in love and married on March 13,1993. They enjoyed 30 wonderful years together and we're blessed with two beautiful daughters, Emily Lauren Starr and Katherine Grace Starr.
Her passion for working with children began at a young age, and she influenced many young lives. She was so kind and compassionate. Her many accomplishments included Director of daycare at her parish, running her own in-home daycare, and being in charge of vacation Bible school at her church for several years. Patty was a great organizer and planner. She did everything with great love and care. She was so proud of her two daughters and four grandchildren. They were the light of her life and are a beautiful legacy. She was happy to be called "Mimi"!
Patty had type one diabetes and lived with many illnesses, but through it, she kept her faith and trust in the Lord. She had a life well lived.
Patricia is survived by her husband Jim Starr; daughter Emily Starr and son-in-law Samuel Rex Baird; and four grandchildren, Ethan, Kadin, Lauren, and Mackenzie; and many other family members.
A Reading from the Second Letter of St. Paul to Timothy.
Be careful always to choose the right course; be brave under trials; make the preaching of the Good News your life’s work, in thoroughgoing service.
As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to be gone. I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith; all there is to come now is the crown of righteousness reserved for me, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that Day; and not only to me but to all those who have longed for his Appearing.
