Memorial services for Nakoda (Koda) C. Layton, 18, of Troy, will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 22, 2023 at Temple Bible Church.  Services will be held with his sweetheart, Kayleigh R. Smith, 17, of Troy.

Koda died Monday, July 17, 2023 in Copperas Cove.

Koda was born December 24, 2004 in Temple, the son of Randy G. and Shalon T. (Barker) Layton.  He was a 2023 graduate of Troy High School, where he played football and enjoyed other sports as well, basketball, baseball and track.  He was also a member of FFA and was a cancer survivor.   He was planning to attend TSTC in the fall to study Diesel Mechanics.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Gerry Steele and Brig Layton and his uncle Brady Steele.

Survivors include his parents Randy and Shalon Layton, one brother Noah Layton and grandparents, Estelle Layton, Diane Steele, Melvin Barker and Max Kennedy.  Aunts and uncles are Sandra Esqueda and husband Richard, Jadyn Barker and wife Kellene, Gentry Barker and wife Nicole, Rylan Kennedy and wife Elizabeth, Laramie King and husband Adam, Carrie Steele.
