Services for Melvin R. Harper, Jr. , of Temple, TX, will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel in Belton, TX. Graveside service will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

The family will receive friends and family for visitation from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Harper died Tuesday, December 13, 2022 in Cedar Park, TX.

Mr. Harper was born December 3, 1947 in Houston, TX. He was the son of Melvin R. Harper Sr. and Margaret (Roush) Engelbretson.  Melvin graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in 1967.  He served in the Vietnam war as a member of the United States Navy. He worked 40 years for Rohm & Haas, later known as Dow Chemical.

He was preceded in death by his father Melvin Harper Sr. and step-mother Betty Harper. His mother Margaret Engelbretson and step-father George Engelbretson, also his grandson, Baby Anthony Morales.

Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Harper. Sons, Gregg Harper and wife Ashley, and Lonnie Lawrence. Daughters, Andrea Edwards and husband Eric, Lauren Harper Mullins and husband Bryan, Cherie Keithley and husband Chad, and Tanya Morales and husband Anthony. Brothers, George Engelbretson Jr. , David Engelbretson and Joe Harper. Sister Terry Mitchell; and his twelve grandchildren.
