Maurine Roberts Tucker, 97, went to be with her Lord on April 24, 2021, after a brief, determined fight against cancer and while surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her son Owen Roberts; her daughter Pam Wilburn and son in-law Mike Wilburn; grandchildren Rolinda Lankes and husband Gerald Lankes, Paige Roberts, Michael Roberts and wife Patty, Amber Code, Donnie Elliott and wife Vanessa, Michael Wilburn and wife Sandy, and Kevin Wilburn and wife Whitney; 14 great grandchildren; nieces Barbara Abbott and John Nell Goff; nephew Paul McAda; and many additional relatives.
She was preceded in death by father George Owen and mother Sophie Kemp Owen; husband Haney L. Roberts in 1963 and second husband Frank Tucker in 1990; son Ronald Roberts and daughter Patricia Roberts Elliott; and sister Mozelle McAda.
Maurine was born in Dyess Grove, Texas, on April 12, 1924. After graduating from high school, she worked at several jobs and then began civil service employment as a clerk typist at Fort Hood, Texas. After 30 years of service, she retired as Chief of Administrative Services, Adjutant General’s Office. She then worked for Sara Care Sitting Service until 1993 and subsequently for Dossman Funeral Home until 2007.
She was a devout Christian from her early childhood. She was a member of Miller Heights Baptist Church in Belton, Texas, where she was active in the Women’s Missionary Union. She also served as a member of the Bell Baptist Women’s Association for many years, including 10 years as its Director. One of her great joys was serving for 31 years as a Sunday School teacher at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Belton. Maurine’s faith in the Lord was a witness for many people throughout her life. She deservedly wanted to be remembered as a woman who loved her God, her family, and her many friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 12:00-2:00 P.M. at Dossman Funeral Home, 2525 N. Main Street, Belton, Texas. A service celebrating Maurine’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on the same day at Dossman Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Miller Heights Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
