Mary Ann Compton Miller, 75 years of age passed away at her home on September 10 th , 2024,in Temple, Texas.
Mary Ann was born on April 15 th , 1949, in Crawford, Texas and was raised by William Azle Fitch and Lovie Mary Jordan.
Mary Ann worked most of her life as a waitress bouncing around at many different cafes making sure her customers had hot coffee to drink, a smile on their face, and a friendly conversation as a side. She never met a stranger, and if she did, they weren’t a stranger for long. When she was done with work, you could find her thrifting at the local Goodwill, the “Cow store” in downtown Temple, or wheeling and dealing while garage saling on the streets of Bell County. She would get home with all of her goodies ready to show them off or give them to the loved ones she thought “just had to have it”. You could also find her at any bingo hall in Bell County because she had the schedule memorized to be able to make as many sessions as possible. Before retiring, Mary Ann was a legal receptionist for Gant and Guess, closing out her lifelong career of helping people. Mary Ann always put her family and friends before herself. She loved her husband and children most of all, but her grandchildren took a strong second place. Her friends were an extension of her family and were always welcome on any adventure she was on. Mary Ann loved so many people and had the biggest heart.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Kenneth Miller of Temple, Texas, son John Wayne Lunsford Jr. & wife Lavonne LaPreze of Westphalia, Texas, daughters Diane Genz of Crosby, Texas and Sarah & husband David Price of Michigan, along with 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and one great grandchild yet to be born.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
