She grew up in Detroit, Michigan.  At a very young age she became a Christian and was baptized at North Detroit Baptist Church.  She graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan.  She attended Detroit Conservatory of Music and Wayne State University, excelling in voice and piano.

She married her husband Herman Lee Casey Jr. in October of 1963.  After his death in 1977, she moved to Tennessee to help her mother, and then to Florida where she took great enjoyment in her involvement with the AGAPE PLAYERS in Lake Wales, Florida, and various Christian schools in Jacksonville and Winter Haven, Florida.

After retirement she moved to Central Texas.  Here she taught private voice and piano lessons.  She was the costume designer for Temple Civic Theatre for quite some years.  In her retirement years she loved being around her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Eleanor Pharris, her husband, Herman Lee Casey, Jr., her son, Daniel Eugene Motley, and step-daughter, Karen Casey Wiegle.

She is survived by daughters, Suzanne and Gus Brown, Eleanor Odle, Emy and Steven Phelps, Gnora and Doyle Fuson; son, John Casey; step-daughters, Kathy Billings, Donna Harrison, Terry Mabey, Maureen Casey, and Patricia Hoenighausen, who she always called her other daughter.

She is also survived by 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, 13 great-great grandchildren with two on the way.

She had many friends but most of all she cherished the friendship of Matthew Busby and his wife and children who were always in touch with cards, letters, and pictures.

Mary Ann Pharris Casey passed away this past Tuesday morning, March 23, 2021 at the age of 85 years, 11 months, and 12 days. Now through faith in Jesus Christ alone, she lives for all eternity with her, and our, Father in heaven.
