Marvin Luther Henager, 86, of Belton passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Baylor-Scott and White hospital in Temple.
Funeral services for Mr. Henager will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton with Rev. Tom Shelton officiating. Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery near Oglesby, Texas.
Marvin was born near Oglesby, Texas on April 14, 1934 to Luther Alexander and Lillie Bell (Edwards) Henager. He graduated from Moody High School in 1951 and soon began a 46 year long career working for Flowers Construction, retiring as a foreman in 1996. Mr. Henager moved to Belton in 1960 and was a longtime member of the Belton Masonic Lodge #166. He married Shirley Brice on February 7, 1953 in Merkel, Texas and they were married for over 67 years before he passed away. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid hunter and collector of rattlesnakes.
Mr. Henager was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ben, Melvin, and Earl, and sisters Frances, Irene, and Dorothy. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Belton, son Kenneth Henager of Moody, daughters Janie Baker of Temple and Vickie Watts of Belton, and sisters Earline Bessent of Brownwood, Texas and Wanda Holley. Also surviving are grandchildren Sarah Henager, David Potts, Jr., Amy Cominsky, Katy Ogas, Christopher Watts, and Arthur Potts, as well as great grandchildren Makenna Potts, Brody Potts, Reese Cominsky, Easton Ogas, Kylee Cominsky, Brady Ogas, and Adeline Potts.
A visitation will be held from 9-10 AM on Saturday morning at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
