Our beloved mother/grandmother/great grandmother, Maria Purificacion (Pura) Rangel de Guardiola, 93, of Temple, a devoted homemaker and the heart of our family, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on Good Friday, April 18th, 2025.
Pura was born February 14, 1932, in Lampazos, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of Francisco Rangel and Elisa Taboada. She grew up with five sisters and three brothers. Pura later married Francisco Guardiola on August 17th, 1952. Together they had 12 children and traveled across the country working in the fields to provide for their family. Pura and her children later moved to Temple in May of 1983 where she became a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—taking small trips, caring for her birds and puppies, and tending to her beloved flowers and plants. Her flowers and plants were her sanctuary, a place where she spent countless peaceful hours, nurturing beauty with the same care she gave to everyone around her.
Pura is survived by her children: Frank Guardiola (Theresa), Puri Ortiz (Epifanio), Elsa Castillo (Roy), Alma Davila (Francisco), Carmela Garcia (Arnulfo), Johnny Guardiola (Delia), Ricky Guardiola (Teresa), George Guardiola (Sue), Phillip Guardiola (Michael), Cesar Guardiola (Laura), Joe Guardiola and Raul Guardiola. She is also survived by her siblings, Graciela Villanueva, Sergio Hernandez, Antonio Hernandez, Carmen Rodriguez, Maria Elena Vega, Celia Solis, 30 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great child, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Pura was preceded by one grandchild (Alondra Ines Garcia), three great-grandchildren (Alexander Thomas McLain, Francisco Tomas Trevino, and Lola Soledad Trevino), son-in-law (Robert Trevino), brother (Ernesto Hernandez), and sister (Elva Savedra).
