Graveside services for Margaret Frances (Pollye) White Eddleman, 94, of Belton will be held at
10:00 AM, Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Belton, with Bruce Burleson officiating.
Friends and family will be received for visitation and viewing at the cemetery, at 9:00 AM, prior to the service.
Ms. Eddleman died Saturday, August 3, 2024, at her home in Belton.
Ms. Eddleman, the daughter of Hobart Orman and Shirley Bess (Armstrong) White, was born on August 24, 1929. She grew up in Wickett and graduated from Monahans High School in 1946. She graduated from Texas Christian University's Harris College of Nursing in Fort Worth in 1949. She became a licensed registered nurse.
She married Thomas Hillyard Eddleman in September of 1949 in Granbury. They had three children:Lorretta, Dana, and Michael.
Ms. Eddleman began her nursing career as a Community Health Nurse in Fort Worth, and she later served as a Nursing Supervisor at Bell Hospital in Monahans. She moved to Belton in 1955 and worked at Darnall Army Community Hospital in Labor and Delivery on Ft. Hood. She went on to work at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple in 1958. She was one of an elite few chosen to operate the first Cardiac Medical Intensive Care Unit there. After over 30 years of service, she retired in 1988 as the Evening Nursing Supervisor. Although she retired, she remained forever “a Registered Nurse”.
Ms. Eddleman was a member of Elm Grove Baptist Church. She truly had a servant's heart. She as a Christian that lived to advocate for those that could not advocate for themselves, such as her patients, people in poverty, the vulnerable, and any and every child. She cared deeply for others, never valuing material things. She was selfless and made many sacrifices of worldly comforts for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Orman Eddleman, former husband Thomas Hillyard Eddleman, and all three siblings, H.O. White Jr., Charles D. White, and Peggy Duncan.
Survivors include a beloved son, Dana Lee Eddleman, a daughter, Lorretta Eddleman Willingham, and husband John Willingham Jr., seven grandchildren: Lori Rabroker and husband Nick, Jeff Willingham, Callie Moctezuma and husband Omar, Cassidy Eddleman, Kassidee Hayes and husband Steven, Kash Eddleman, and Kolt Eddleman; five great-grandchildren: Andrew, Charles, Omar, Anita and Sonora. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she actively cared for and deeply loved.
She will forever be remembered for her joyous, lively, and playful spirit, her high-pitched singing voice, her generosity, her selfless, loving heart, and her unwavering devotion to helping others. Memorials may be made to the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas (402 N. Main Street Belton Texas 76513) or a meaningful charity of your choice.
