Mamie Martinez, 78, of Salado, passed away on Monday, June 17th. Rosary and visitation will take place on Friday, June 21st, 6-8pm at Dossman Funeral Home. Service will be held on Saturday, June 22nd, at 1pm at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Mamie Martinez was born on August 13th, 1945, in Belton, Texas to Augustin and Juanita Castillo.
Mamie was a devoted wife to Vidal Martinez for over six decades, and dedicated 37 years as a nurse assistant at Baylor Scott & White Hospital and clinic in Temple. As one of seventeen children, she dedicated her life to raising her siblings, children, and grandchildren. She was an exceptional cook, and one of Elvis’s biggest fans.
Mamie is survived by her husband, Vidal Martinez; two sons, Bill Martinez, Jr. and Moses Martinez; two daughters, Rosemarie Alvarez and Janie Ziegler; four brothers, Joe Castillo, Bobby Castillo, Gilbert Castillo, and Rick Castillo; four sisters, Mary Helen Jack, Corina March, Emma Pruitt, and Vidalia Lopez; 16 grandchildren, Daniel Alvarez, Kristal Gonzalez, Maricela Alvarez, Ryan Martinez, Amber Martinez, Elena Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Josh Robinson, Zach Robinson, Madelyn Martinez, Macie Martinez, Houston Sloan, Courtney Sloan, Sommer Sloan, Samantha Ziegler, and Sarah Ziegler; and ten great grandchildren, Daniel Alvarez, Adrian Alvarez, Kimberly Delgado, Juan Gonzalez, Mattieu Brito, Isabella Perez, Eduardo Botello, James Martinez, Nola Martinez, and Tripp Robinson.
Mamie has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed. “
