Loreth Clara Jackson, 87, of Troy, TX entered into eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 10, 2023, after a brief illness, and 10 days after her Texas Rangers won their first World Series.

Loreth was born Loreth Clara Miller on July 18, 1936, to parents Herbert and Alma (Kriegel) Miller in Copperas Cove, TX, the youngest of eight children.  The family later moved to Holland, TX, and Loreth was graduated from Holland High School in Holland, TX.

To tell you about Loreth is to tell you about Wade, the love of her life for over 66 years. Loreth married Wade Jackson on June 7, 1957, in Temple, TX. The couple built a life together, centered on their strong faith. Loreth was a Lutheran and Wade a Baptist, so during their entire marriage, they attended both the Lutheran AND Baptist churches every week and were involved in each congregation as well. Loreth and Wade have 2 children, daughter Judy (Bart) Bunker, of Academy, TX and son Kimmy (Amy) Jackson of Belton, TX.

Loreth worked for HEB as a bookkeeper, and after 26 years of experience there, retired as head bookkeeper in 1991. Loreth also kept the books for Wade’s business, Jackson Lawn & Tree, for the duration of its operation. Wade and Loreth were instrumental in establishing baseball in Troy, TX. On donated property, they took out a personal loan to turn raw land into baseball fields, doing much of the work themselves, and with other community members. In the beginning, there was one Midget League team and one Little League team. Six years later, there were 8 total teams in Troy, and over 100 players. Wade coached Little League for over 20 years, and Loreth supported him in this endeavor the whole time. Often, they drove kids to practices and games who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to play. Loreth established and staffed the concession stand at the ballpark, and together, along with their children, Wade and Loreth took many young players under their wings. Loreth was very creative. She crocheted, did needlepoint, sewed, knitted, and she owned a large ceramic shop, Loreth’s Arts & Crafts, where she taught classes and made beautifully detailed ceramic pieces that graced the homes of many. For many years, she and Wade made the Sami craft show circuit while growing Loreth’s ceramic business. Wade and Loreth loved people, and they loved their Lord. This combination led them to have servant’s hearts for others, and many were blessed by their kindness and compassion. Loreth taught the two-year-old class at First Lutheran Church for 14 years. Wade and Loreth worked together with a Scott & White Alcohol and Drug Rehab program wherein they provided participants with an opportunity to learn the art of ceramics as part of their rehab effort.  Many times, over the years, former participants stopped by to chat with Wade and Loreth and told them what a difference their participation had meant to them, because of the love, compassion, and grace which had been extended by the couple. Loreth was a strong woman who loved her Lord, her family, and so many others with grace and wit, until the very end.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Alex Curra-Spurger, APRN, of Scott & White Neurology, to Enhabit Hospice staff, and especially to the nursing and care staff at Stoney Brook Assisted Living, led by Heather Vann, LVN, for their above-and-beyond compassionate care of Loreth.

Loreth is survived by her loving husband, Wade Jackson, her 2 aforementioned children and their spouses, grandchildren Brianna Aguilar, William (Moriah) Bunker, and Joshua and Katherine Hancock; greatgrandchildren Beckett, Berlynn, Brantson, Elaina, and Truett; brother Harold Miller, as well as extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, and 6 of her siblings.

Services are entrusted to Dossman Funeral Home of Belton. Visitation is Wednesday, November 15, from 5-7pm, with service on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 2pm at Dossman Funeral Home. All are welcome. Burial at Bellwood Cemetery to follow.
