Obituary for Karen Lee Walker

Karen Lee Walker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away on January 17, 2022, in Temple, Texas after a long illness at the age of 79.

Karen was born on October 30, 1942, in Houston, Texas to Harry Wilson and LeDell Brandt Quick. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and son in law, Wayne Kirven.

Karen was a graduate of Bellaire High School and held a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Houston where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority and a Master of Education Degree from Houston Baptist University. She retired from education in 1999 after having taught First Grade for sixteen years and having been an elementary school counselor for thirteen years. Karen was a member of First Baptist Church of Belton, Texas, the Saint Bartholomew Chapter of the Huguenot Society of Texas, the Kappa Delta Pi Society, and the Corpus Christi Metal Detecting Club.Karen especially enjoyed being a member of the Lambda Tau Chapter and the Gamma Psi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Karen is survived by her husband C. Dean Walker of Belton, who was truly the love of her life for sixty years, daughter Laurie Kirven of Austin, Texas, daughter Karen Norman and husband Tom of Cabot, Arkansas, grandchildren Christine Clear and husband Adam of Elgin, Texas, Kimberly Mitchell and husband Eric of Elgin, Texas, Allen Kirven of Austin, Texas, Alicia Hittle and husband Spencer of El Paso, Texas, Ashley York and husband Austin of Cabot, Arkansas, Tommy Norman and wife Christine of Austin, Arkansas, Seth Whitman, Haley Whitman, Jared Whitman and Emily Whitman of Cabot, Arkansas, numerous great grandchildren and her sister in law and brother in law, Norma Jean and Jay Marshall of Boerne, Texas.

A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery located at 1101 Antoine Drive in Houston, Texas on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 10:00 in the morning with Raul Martinez officiating.
