Funeral services for Joyce (Fleming) Hooper Griffin, 87, of Belton, will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, February 5, 2024, at Dossman Funeral Home Chapel, with Tom Bever and Ritchie Hamm officiating. Burial will follow at Greathouse Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday evening 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Griffin was born January 19, 1937, in Coryell County, to Orville and Evelyn Fleming. She grew up in Heidenheimer and graduated from Academy High School in 1955. She graduated from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University in 1959. She went on to receive her Master's Degree from Texas A&M Commerce. She taught business at Cameron High School and Temple High School. She also served as Vocational Director at Taylor High School and Temple High School. She had a very successful career as an educator and touched the lives of many students and faculty.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of the Bell County Quarter Horse Association where she held the offices of secretary, treasurer and president.
Mrs. Griffin was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was a member of the Belton Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Fleming.
Survivors include her husband Louis Griffin, sister Judy Adkins, one niece Cheryl Haverland, two great-nephews and one great niece. Step-son Louis Griffin Jr., three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital in Dallas.
