Joseph James Moore Sr. departed this life and met with Jesus Christ our Lord in Heaven on November 27, 2023.
Visitation will be from 5-7PM Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, at Dossman Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 12pm Thursday, December 7th, 2023, at Dossman Funeral Home, Burial with full military honors will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Joseph was born in Greensboro, North Carolina on July 14th, 1944, to the late Arthur Moore and Margarite Harris. Growing up he was a devout member of The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Greensboro. He spent a little over a year attending college in Canada before he was drafted into the U.S.Army in 1966.
During his time in the military, he married Christine Moore, raised a family, and had four children. He served at two overseas bases in Germany, South Korea, Columbus, Georgia and San Antonio, Texas where he retired on October 31st, 1988. He then opened his own jewelry store and watch repair business, Momordo Moore’s Jewelry until he retired again in 2012. He was an expert at selling and fixing jewelry and watches. In 2005, he made his home in the Killeen, Texas area and settled down in Harker Heights. In 2014 he entered his second marriage with Xiuhua Wang Moore. He then became a member of First Baptist Belton Church with his wife Xiuhua in 2015. In his free time, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Some of his favorite pastime things to do was working in his yard by keeping up a meticulous lawn, gardening, and freshwater fishing.
Joseph leaves to celebrate his homegoing: his wife Xiuhua Wang Moore, son Joseph James Moore Jr. (Crystal), daughters, Nichelle C, Turner (Reginald), Nitashi Thomas (Lonnie), Katharine A. Moore, sister Barbara Wilkins of Greensboro, and eight grandchildren, Trent Grandison, Samuel Hilliard Jr., Justin Harrison, Giovanni Riviera, Jaden Riviera, Zavion Moore, Celine Moore, Zanise Cantu and three great grandchildren. There are also a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
He is preceded by death to Ona Ramsey Moore, Margarite and Arthur Sims Moore, Arthur Moore Jr., and Ora Mae Moore Henderson.
