Jose R. Martinez

Jose Martinez of Belton, Texas, passed away at his home on August 21st, 2024, at 91 years of age.

Visitation will be at 6pm, Monday, August 26th, 2024, with Rosary to follow at 7pm at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, Texas

Funeral Mass will be at 10am Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Temple, Texas.  The burial will follow at North Belton Cemetery, Belton, Texas.

Jose Martinez was born on September 29th, 1932, in Durango, Mexico to Agustin Ravelo and Maria Avalos Ramirez Martinez.

Jose was married to Lucia Reyes from 1952 until her death in 2019.  He worked in construction, both commercial and residential. He enjoyed listening to Spanish music while grilling and having a beer. He was known for being a very sociable man. He lived and worked to provide for his family.  They were the true joy of his life.

Jose is survived by his sons; Prudencio & wife Leslie Martinez Sr., Fermin Martinez, Amalio Martinez, Lucio & wife Debbie Martinez, Jose Agustin & wife Janet Martinez and Jose Martinez Jr., daughters; Valentina & husband Jose Antonio Suarez, Ma. Del Rosario Martinez, Juana & husband Aciano Acuña, Eduarda “Lala” Villarreal, and Bentura Martinez, brothers; Jose Angel Martinez and Rosalio Martinez, along with 29 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lucia “Ama Lucy” Reyes Martinez, his brothers; Amalio Martinez, Jesus Martinez, Isidoro Martinez, sisters; Josefa Martinez, Nieves Martinez, and Maria Martinez.

Jose will be missed by his family and many friends.
