Johnny William Gierisch, Sr. passed away on June 22, 2024, in Belton, Tx. Services will be held on Friday, June 28, at Dossman Funeral Home, in Belton, at 2:00 p.m.
He was born on February 19, 1928, in Mason, Texas, to Edmund George Gierisch and Elsie Wilhelmine Schneider Gierisch.
He met the love of his life, Golda Faye Stuart, in Baytown, TX. They married on June 3rd, 1950, and were happily married for 62 years.
Mr. Gierisch began his career of 38 years, with the U.S. Post Office in Baytown, TX. After 3 years he enlisted in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in Japan and served with the 187th Paraglider Infantry, 11th Airborne Division.
After service he returned to Baytown, Texas to work again for the Post Office. He worked his way up, and eventually moved with the Post Office to Bryan, TX. In 1975 he became the U.S. Postmaster of North Zulch, TX.
After retirement he worked hard on his farm with all his animals and his garden.
He was a great father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved his family dearly. He was always willing to help or lend a hand to all of them. He was highly intelligent and expected a lot from his children. His kindness could not be surpassed. In his last days he stated several times that he had a great life. He said he could not have had a better wife and family, and he was very proud of all his children and grandchildren and couldn’t be prouder.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Golda; one son James Guy Gierisch; three brothers, Edmund Gierisch, Jr., Ernest Gierisch, Sr., and William Gierisch, Sr.; and four sisters, Dorothy Lyons, Willie Mae Benson, Mary Beam, and Emma Burch.
He is survived by four children, Susan Bond of Belton, Gary Gierisch of North Zulch, Johnny Gierisch, Jr. of Normangee, and Diane Gierisch of Brownwood; two brothers, Carl Gierisch of Roanoke, and Dorman Gierisch of Hurst; eight grandchildren, Edmund William Gierisch, Gregory Brian Bond, Jr., Dr. Steven Ross Bond, Dr. Brittani Star Gierisch, JamesGuy George Gierisch, Kyle Matthew Chaffin, JoeGavyn Lamar Gierisch, and Johnny Gierisch, III; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Jesse Gierisch, Mason Gierisch, Alyssa Briley, Addison Briley, Kailyn Bond, Carson Bond, Brycen Bond, Dylan Coffin, Johnny Gierisch IV, Jair Gierisch, Jubal Gierisch, Jael Gierisch, and Banks McCarthy.
