John (Jack) William Meredith

Memorial services for Dr. John (Jack) William Meredith, 85, of Belton, will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, October 15, 2023 at the Belton Church of Christ.

Dr. Meredith died Friday, September 22, 2023 at his home.

Dr. Meredith was born January 29, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of William Eugene and Virginia (Bauer) Meredith. He married Deanna Seals June 12, 1960 at the Belton Church of Christ.   The two met in Jordan, as their fathers worked for the State Department.   He was a veteran of the United State Navy.

Dr. Meredith received his undergraduate work from Southern Methodist University  and his Doctorate from the University of North Texas.   He taught at The University of Petroleum and Minerals in Saudi Arabia for several years before moving to Belton in 1987.   In Belton, Dr. Meredith taught at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor until retiring in 2000.

He was a long time  member of the Belton Lions Club.   He was a faithful member of the Belton Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years Deanna Meredith of Belton; one daughter Dianna Kim Stevenson of Belton; two sons, John Meredith of Florida and James Meredith of Belton; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
