Joe Ann Marks

Joe Ann (Trout) Marks, 93, of Belton passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at a Belton nursing home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Dossman Funeral Home chapel in Belton with Scott Meyer officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River/Academy. A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Joe Ann Trout Marks was born to Paul J. Trout and Edna Anderson Trout in Plainview, Texas on December 6, 1925.  The family later moved to  Bell County.  She graduated from Temple High School in 1943.  During World War II, Joe Ann moved to Fort Worth to work at the Consolidated Plant.  While there, she met and married Ned Leach, and they had one daughter.  She later moved back to Temple and worked at Scott and White Hospital for 23 years.  In 1970 she married Hal Marks who preceded her in death in 2009.

Joe Ann was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ.  She and her husband attended Heidenheimer Church of Christ where she taught children's Bible classes for many years.  She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she called her “little angels.”

Joe Ann was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Pauline Strawn, and her two brothers J. D. Trout and Dennis Trout.  She is survived by her daughter Diana Smetana and husband Ron, her grandchildren Sharla Bundy and husband Byron and Jon Smetana and wife Jenny and five great grandchildren Blake and Anna Jo Bundy and Ethan, Lynlea and Emmy Smetana.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Love of Christ Food Pantry in Temple.
