A memorial service for Jimmy W. Wheeler, 88, of Temple, will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the First United Methodist Church in Belton, with Bobby Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday evening, September 6, 2024, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.

Mr. Wheeler passed away peacefully, Friday evening, August 30, 2024, in a Temple hospital.

Mr. Wheeler was born June 7, 1936, at home in Kaufman County, the son of Raymond Wilford Wheeler and Florence Jessie (Dickerson) Wheeler.   He had a large family of eight siblings that all preceded him in death.  He graduated from Terrell High School in Terrell, Texas.   He married Charlotte Ann Parker, August 30, 1958, at the First United Methodist Church in Edgewood.

Mr. Wheeler had many different jobs in his long career, but Director of Engineering was his favorite.   He spent 27 years with Curtis Mathes in Athens.  He holds a US patent in the television industry.

Mr. Wheeler moved to Central Texas in 1999.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Belton for many years.  He was a longtime volunteer with the church's College Lunch Ministry for UMHB students.

Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Charlotte Wheeler; two daughters Sheri Benson and husband John, and Julie O'Rear and husband Randy; six grandchildren, Crystal O'Halloran and husband Brent, Kyle Roberts, Ryan O'Rear and wife Tara, Taylor Williams and husband John, Reed O'Rear and wife Jesslyn, and Brandon Benson; and ten great-grandchildren Brady, Hadley, James, Hayden, Jonah, Judah, Mia, Caden, Hudson and Jadon.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Belton 205 3rd Ave, Belton, Texas 76513 or the O'Rear-Wheeler Endowed Scholarship at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 900 College St, Belton, Texas 76513.
