Jimmy Don Gage

Jimmy Don Gage of Troy, Texas, formerly of Belton, passed away at a Temple, Texas nursing home on March 4th, 2025. He was 89 years of age.

Jimmy was born September 3rd, 1935, in San Saba, Texas to Claude & Suzie Gage

Funeral services will be at 10AM, Saturday, March 8th, 2025, at Taylors Valley Baptist Church, Temple, Texas. Burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, Belton, Texas.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm Friday, March 7th, 2025, at Dossman Funeral Home, Belton, Texas.

Jimmy grew up in San Saba, graduated from high school, and went on to graduate from Durham’s Business College in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1960. He worked for the phone company until he started to work at MHMR in Temple, Texas as a maintenance supervisor and retired after 24 years.

Jimmy married Beverly Jones on February 29th, 1986, at the Nolanville Baptist Church.

Jimmy was very passionate about his Rodeo and his church; in Rodeo he was inducted into the Belton Cowboy Hall of Fame for team roping. But that does not compare to his starting the food pantry at Taylor Valley Baptist Church in 2002, helping thousands of people over the years that were in need.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Beverly Gage of Troy, Texas, stepdaughters; Kathy & husband Steven Swartz of Nolanville, Texas, and Vicky Metcalf of Troy, Texas. Stepson: Ricky Jones of Flower Mound, Texas, Mike & wife Norma Hagan of Brady, Texas and Jack Hagan of Hondo, Texas. Sister Betty Cluck of Temple, TX., Grandchildren; Chad Drew, Bailey Metcalf, Hailey Metcalf, Cynthia Jones, Seth Gage, Faith Cropper, Weston Hagan, Jess Hagan, Michaela VanDyke, Amanda Hagan-Castillo, and Jake Hagan; eight Great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, son Jerry Don Gage, brother Jerry Mac Gage, sister Claudia McNeely and grandson Cory Swartz.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jimmy’s name to the Taylor Valley Baptist Church building fund.
