Irene Whitson Jackson,96, of Belton went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2020. Services will be 2 Pm Saturday January 2, 2021 at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, Irene's nephew, The Reverend Jeff Loudin, will officiate.

Twins, Irene and Ilene were born to Maudie Ethel Wise Whitson and George Augusta Whitson on December 9, 1924, in Post, Texas. The twins were nine when Maudie passed away leaving eight children to the loving care of their father. The Whitson family moved from Itasca to Spicewood, Texas, and then later to Belton, Texas. At the age of 16, Irene was employed by Cochran-Blair & Potts Department Store as a shoe clerk. She went on to work as a dental assistant at Camp Hood ( renamed Ft. Hood) in Killeen. Irene married Billie Guy Jackson of Temple on June 29, 1947, at the First Baptist Church of Moffat, Texas. In 1953 Bill was employed as a field agent for the Soil Conservation Department. Irene and Bill made their home in Marlin, Texas, after being transferred by the SCS from Plano and Rosebud. They were active members of the First Baptist Church of Marlin for over 50 years where Bill served as a Deacon and Irene as a Sunday School Teacher. Irene worked as a dental assistant for the Thomas T. Connally Veterans Affairs in Marlin for 30 years. After retirement, Bill and Irene established Bill Jackson Real Estate in Marlin. In 2009, Irene and Bill moved to Belton. Taylor's Valley Baptist became their home church.

Irene is preceded in death by Bill on November 18, 2010, and son, Tommy Jackson, August 5, 2019; sisters, Thelma McPherson and twin sister Ilene Loudin both of Belton and Charlene Neimann of Spicewood, Sallie Autrey of Corinth, brothers Billy Tom Whitson of Kingsland and Robert "Buh" Whitson of Austin.

She is survived by her sister, Jennie Ellis of Belton; daughters, Beverly Drake of Belton and Linda Hopkins and husband Charles of Temple; daughter-in-law Madeline Jackson of Marlin; son-in-law Jerry Drake of Belton; Christopher Hopkins and wife Nicole of Georgetown; Mary Kate Hopkins of Kansas City, Mo.; Amanda Hopkins Doering and husband Zach of Devine; Jeremy Scott Drake amd wife Kristin of El Paso; Jeffery Drake of Orlando; Tyler Jackson and wife Bianca of Marlin; great-grandchildren, Tristin Drake of El Paso, Jessie and Aubrey Tucker of Austin; Luke and Issac Hopkins of Georgetown; Aaliyah and Alexandria of Marlin and great-great- grandson, Hagen William Drake of El Paso.
