Services for Ima Merle Locklear, 90, of Temple, Texas will be on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 12:00 pm, at Dossman Funeral Home. Visitation will be before the service at Dossman Funeral Home on the same day, at 11:00 am.

Mrs. Locklear went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning January 20th surrounded by her loved ones. Our precious mother was born February 20th, 1933, in Belton, Texas, the daughter of Frank E. and Estelle Hayter. She married the love of her life, L.P. (Pete) Locklear on June 2nd, 1949. They had 1 son and 2 daughters with another daughter waiting in heaven for their arrival. Mrs. Locklear, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was bold to proclaim Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She walked the love chapter of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Ima also encouraged us to always forgive quoting Mark 11:22-24, and at every family event, she reminded us of Dad’s favorite verse, Matthew 6:33.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Pete Locklear; as well as sisters, Veda Mae Clarkson, Ruth Hayter, Alice Van Dyke, Thelma Herring, and Nell Webb and brothers Alvie and Russel Hayter.

Survivors include son, Mike and Annette Locklear, daughter Dianne and James Clark, and daughter Nancy and Roy Darden. Ima had 9 grandchildren, Ryan Locklear, Jared Locklear, Somer (David) Cole, Jenny (Jonathan) Featherston, Justin (MJ) Clark, Joshua (Emilie) Darden, Abraham (Erin) Darden, Hannah (Jason) Polk, and Luke Darden. She also had 18 great grandchildren, Jazmine, Jade and Jesse Locklear, Elliott and Levi Cole, Averianna, Cademon and Graham Featherston, Kayla, Natalie, Bernadette, Stella and Vada Clark, Christian (Josie) Darden, Shelby Darden, Callie Polk, Grant  and Bethany Darden. She loved her family exceedingly well. Ima was a light and witness to all those she met. Her beautiful loving spirit will not be forgotten. Join us in celebrating the blessing of our Granny.
