Howard V. (Buck) Walker

Memorial services for Howard V. (Buck) Walker, 92, of Belton, will be held at 11AM Friday, May 22, 2020, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Davis and Rev. Tony Watson officiating.

Mr. Walker died Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Walker was born August 2, 1927, in Belton, the son of Ike and Minnie Walker.   He joined the Coast Guard September 20, 1946.   He was stationed at the Freeport Lifeboat Station, the Brazos River Light House and was discharged from Velasco Light House September 19, 1949.   He married Sara Fay Barrett February 5, 1947 at First Baptist Church in Belton.

Mr. Walker worked for the Belton Post Office from 1949 until 1982 and retired as supervisor of operations.  He also worked 19 years for the Temple Daily Telegram.

Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Fay Walker in 2008 and one daughter Donna Walker in 2007.

Survivors include one son David Walker; two daughters Susan Montgomery and Janie Brown and husband Kevin all of Belton; four grandchildren, Phil Walker and wife Marcy of Killeen, Wendy Winters Schaefer and husband Rolf of St. Hedwig and Sheryl Walker Holland and husband Adam of Chester, Virginia and Candice Roberts of Belton; and two great grandchildren Ryan Ekberg and Jocelynn Cousineau.
