Gurtha Crecie (Burrow) Winkler, 101, of Belton passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Baylor-Scott and White in Temple.
Funeral services for Gurtha will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 10:00 AM Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with H.K. Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery in Belton.
Gurtha was born on December 3, 1919 in Noodle, Texas to Henry and Rosa Lee (Roberts) Burrow. She grew up in Jones County, Texas and attended school there. Mrs. Winkler married Duward Winkler in Dudley, Texas on May 26, 1936 and they were married for over 56 years before he passed away on October 31, 1992. Gurtha worked during WWII as a welder on war ships in California, worked making custom hats for a time, and at a steam laundry before becoming a full time homemaker.
Mrs. Winkler was preceded in death by her husband Duward; son Dalton Ray Winkler; daughter Gloria Jean Bragg; and four grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Cornelia Ann Mooney of Belton; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 42 great-great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.
