Gregory Alan Hilley

Gregory Alan Hilley, 77, of Belton passed away at his home on Dec. 11, 2024.

Services are pending with Dossman Funeral Home in Belton.

Mr. Hilley was born Oct. 22, 1947, in Waco, Texas, to Lewis M. Hilley and Jean Peevey.

He was a proud alumnus of the University of Florida after earning a tennis scholarship. He graduated in 1970 and was known as a collector of all things Gator. Throughout his career, Coach Hilley was a professional tennis player, tennis coach and a public education teacher. He coached tennis at the collegiate and high school levels, including the Temple High School Wildcats and Harker Heights High School Knights teams before retiring from public education. After retirement, he continued to coach tennis in private lessons and to string rackets. He was known to encourage the playing of sports of all kinds.

Mr. Hilley is survived by his daughter Emily and son-in-law Steven; beloved grandsons Evan Alan and Conor Lewis; brother, Gordon Hilley and many cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Michael Hilley.
