Gerald Hoyt (Jerry) Ledyard, 82, of Temple, died Thursday, October 8, 2020 in a Temple hospital. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Ledyard was born January 5, 1938, in Lubbock, the son of Paul Hoyt Ledyard and Vivian Francis (Shore) Ledyard. He lived in Fort Worth before moving to Temple in the mid 1970’s. He worked from the late 1950’s until 1994 for the USDA Soil Conservation Service as a Cartographer. He worked early on developing todays GPS system.
Mr. Ledyard married Gayle Diane Coe, April 9, 1981 in Burnet. They enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. He was a bar-b-cue master, could fix anything, a true handyman and enjoyed playing golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Paulette Patrick; and wife Gayle.
Survivors include four sons, Kirk Ledyard, Mark Ledyard, Jeff Ledyard and Jason Ledyard; four daughters-in-law, Annette, Shelley, Lisa, and Amanda; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
