Gailen was born October 19th, 1943, in Temple, Texas to J.D. & Laura Phillips Clark.
Gailen Rovelli was a woman of steady grace, quiet strength, and deep devotion to her family. She married the love of her life, John Rovelli, on June 15, 1962. Together, they built a life centered around family and hard work.
After graduating high school, Gailen briefly held a few jobs in the community before joining Scott & White, where she started as a desk clerk. Her talents and reliability didn’t go unnoticed, as she was soon recruited into the anesthesia department, where she became an anesthesia tech. She was so trusted and respected in that role that she became the manager of the entire anesthesia tech department.
She spent 35 years at Scott & White before retiring in 2012, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, kindness, and quiet leadership.
Even outside of her formal work, Gailen never stopped moving. To help make ends meet and support her family, she took on odd jobs—sewing Barbie clothes for others, ironing clothes, and crafting handmade vests and photo book covers. Her hands were always busy, whether at work or at home.
Gailen was best known for her generosity, her sharp eye for a bargain, and her legendary garage sale finds. She loved playing cards and dominoes, but Scrabble was her favorite, and she played it faithfully right up until she passed. She enjoyed gardening, going on bus tours, and spoiling her grandkids with the best hamburgers and fries, homemade breakfasts, and unforgettable desserts. Her grandson swears she watched every single episode of Oprah, always recorded on cassette tapes so she could unwind after work. Gailen had a quick wit, a warm heart, and a deep, unwavering love for her family.
She is survived by her brother Gary Clark; daughter Michelle Rovelli; son Kevin and daughter-in-law Becky Rovelli; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Hayes, and Amelia. She now rests in peace with her beloved husband John, and her parents, J.D. and Laura Clark.
Gailen’s life was a testament to perseverance, creativity, and love. She will be missed dearly and remembered always.
