Gabriela Maria Roope

December 17, 1959 — December 13, 2024

Gabriela Maria Roope, 64, of Belton, TX, peacefully left this life to be with her Heavenly Father, on December 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 17, 1959, in Granada, Spain and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, community, and interests.

She left Spain at age 2 and grew up in Frankfurt, Germany where her parents relocated for work.  After graduation she was accepted into an internship in the travel and tourism industry.  She met her future husband of 38 years at a German-American Christmas event in Frankfurt in December 1983 where he was serving with the U.S. Army.  They were later married in June 1986.

Gabriela is survived by her loving spouse, Timothy Roope of Belton, TX; children, Jessica Roope-Rattan (Zach) of Bedford, TX, Jennifer Roope of North Richland Hills, TX, and David Roope (Tylene) of Temple, TX; brother, Fernando Muros of Granada, Spain; and several nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles in the U.S., Germany and Spain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando Muros Palomares and Matilde Montes Parrizas.

Gabriela was a loving wife and an amazing mother.   Everyone knew her to be beautiful, loving, hospitable, and fun. To others she was spunky, smart, strong, approachable, and high-spirited. Nothing was more important than her family. While her children were young, she felt her most important job was being home to care for them.  After the birth of her twins, she worked briefly and intermittently in the travel industry for agencies in Ayer, MA and Temple, TX with her final travel job being for Carlson-Wagonlit Official Government Travel at Fort Hood, TX.

Gabriela was a member of the First Methodist Church in Temple, TX, where she participated in various community and church activities. Her hobbies included cooking, reading, music, travel, quilting, and engaging in Toastmasters, which allowed her to express her love for communication and community engagement.  She was also a member of the Newcomers Club of Bell County.  Her love of “The Golden Girls” and “Little House on the Prairie” was unsurpassed and she would never miss an episode no matter how many times she had seen it before.  She was a huge supporter of the Copperas Cove and Belton High School Band Programs, working the concession stand, riding the bus as a chaperone and in Copperas Cove, served a term as Band Booster President.   She loved her adopted country and all of its natural beauty and became an American citizen in September 2015, a moment that made her very proud. Her great passion for travel never waned especially her desire to visit our National Parks.  She saw 26 major parks and numerous national monuments, historical places, rivers and recreation areas.  The last park visited was the Badlands and Mount Rushmore in South Dakota in June 2023.
