Our beloved, Franklin Lee Conner, passed away from this life on July 25, 2024, at his residence in Rogers, Texas.  He was born in Cameron, Texas on December 14, 1947, to Marie Spurek Conner and Benjamin Conner.  Franklin lived in East Bell County most of his life and attended several Baptist Churches in the area.  In fact, Mr. Conner was the Song Leader for many years at Heidenheimer Baptist Church.  Most importantly, Mr. Conner was a Christian man of strong faith who dearly loved the Lord.

Following his attendance at Academy High School, Mr. Conner graduated from Temple College.  After a very successful 43-year career with Temple Daily Telegram, he finally retired. Franklin was a foreman in the mailroom and truly cared about his employees.  His retirement life consisted of spending time with his dear friends and family.  Franklin always had a genuine concern for other people. He loved whole-heartedly and was so very thoughtful, always remembering everyone’s birthdays and special occasions.  For many years, he was the caregiver for his sweet mother, Marie Conner.  He loved her most of all and rest assured; they experienced a grand reunion in heaven.

Franklin had a hilarious sense of humor and lit up a room with his smile.  Mr. Conner grew up on a farm where he developed a love for animals and nature.  Mr. Conner truly saw beauty in all of God’s creation.  He provided a safe haven for his outdoor cats and even the opossums that frequented his yard.  Franklin loved a good home cooked meal, BBQ Ribs, Green’s Sausage House, and banana pudding.  He also loved listening to gospel hymns and polka music as loud as he could stand it.  But more notably, he had a genuine love for people and followed our Lord’s example, by graciously helping anyone in need.

Mr. Conner is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Marie Conner, and his brother, William Schiller.  He is survived by his sisters, Rose Burkey of Belton, Nell Jirasek of Waco, and his brother, Gene Schiller of Temple. Mr. Conner never had children, but absolutely loved his 5 nieces, 3 nephews, and 17 great nieces and nephews from the Schiller Family.

A memorial service and celebration of life for Mr. Franklin Lee Conner will be held on Saturday, August 10th @ 2pm, at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton with Senior Pastor, Mr. Ricky Lindsey, officiating.  The burial of the cremains will immediately follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cameron, Texas.

Franklin was a follower of Jesus and enjoyed listening to Billy Graham, and his son Franklin Graham.  In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to the Franklin Graham Organization ( www.FranklinGraham.com ) and/or Samaritan’s Purse ( www.SamaritansPurse.org ).
