Eugene "Gene" Morse Bridge

Eugene “Gene” Bridge, 92, of Belton, died Friday, September 11, 2020, at his home.

Mr. Bridge was born October 22, 1927, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, the son of Robert and Marian (Morse) Bridge.   He married Virginia Swanson August 22, 1953 in Mound, Michigan.  He served in the United States Army, retiring after 23 years of service.    He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  Later he was a merchant marine and retired again in the late 1990’s.  He was a vessel master.    Mr. Bridge moved to Lake Belton in the 1980’s from Charlevoix, Michigan.    He was a member of the local U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a member of the Lake Belton VFW 10377.   Beginning at a young age he was interested in boats, planes, and firetrucks.  He was a volunteer fireman at age 14 driving the firetruck.

Mr. Bridge was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Bridge in 2008 and his grandson Cheyenne Valadez in 2012.

Survivors include two daughters Gail Bridge of Belton and Debby Bridge of Morgan’s Point Resort.

Dossman Funeral Home in Belton is in charge of cremation.  Burial will be at a later date in Michigan.
