Erma Lee (Crick) was born to Quinton Lee and Julia (Reaves) Cryer on June 25 th , 1921 in Holland Texas. Her family moved to Milam County where they farmed and ranched. She attended school at Val Verde. She married L.W. Locklin on May 14 th , 1938 in Milam County. While living in the community of Friendship she wrote an article for the Temple Daily Telegram that recorded the news from the area. In exchange for her writing she received the telegram for free. In 1959 she and L.W. along with five children moved to Belton. She was a faithful member of the Belton Church of Christ from 1959 until her death.
Erma Lee was known for her wonderful cooking (especially her pinto beans and pies). She was also known for her ability to grow beautiful flowers. Every spring her yard was covered with her favorite larkspurs and poppies. She never met a stranger and always saw the good in everyone. She was a friend to everyone she met.
Erma Lee’s large family was her greatest pride. She was one of thirteen children. Her dad and three of his brothers married four sisters. Out of the four marriages Erma Lee had many double cousins along with many other cousins that she cherished. She gave birth to six children. Even though four of her children preceded her in death due to cancer she never lost her faith in the Lord.
She is survived by two children James Locklin of Salado and Ann Locklin of Belton. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandkids and 8 great great grandkids and one sister Juanita Graves of Three Rivers, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband L.W., four children Loyd Locklin, Ronnie Locklin, Jerry Locklin and Marsha Swenson. Seven brothers Elmer, Lonnie, Q.L. Raymond, Jamie, John and Wayne and four sisters Virgie, Wilma, Ruthie and Gladys. Also one grandson and three great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank all of the caring doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White and Creekside Terrace Rehabilitation for all of their love and attention given to Erma Lee in her last two months of her life. Also to the Belton Police Departments RU OK? program volunteers who helped allow her to stay at home by checking on her daily. She loved all of you as if you were family.
