Edward (Ed) Charles Hohhertz

October 27, 1952 — May 24, 2019

Services for Edward (Ed) Charles Hohhertz, 66 of Moody will be 10 a.m. Wednesday May 29 at First United Methodist Church of Moody. He was welcomed into the world on October 27, 1952 in Temple, Texas by his parents Robert and Lavern Hohhertz. He was greeted into his Heavenly Home by his Lord and Savior on May 24, 2019.

Ed was never without a smile on his face or a goofy joke to share.  He spent most of his time taking care of and loving on his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.

He met the love of his life, Nancy Miller, in August of 1974 and she became his bride 3 months afterwards.  Within 3 short years they proudly welcomed their three wonderful children Gina, Walt, and Robbie, who have been the pride of their life. He loved being involved in all of their activities, watching all of their sporting events (heckling refs), and sharing his love of the Lord.

He later very happily became a Papaw to seven amazing grandchildren who have been the light of his life for the past 22 years.  He was known to be their biggest and loudest cheerleader in the stands. Not knowing his heart could grow even more, he had the blessing of becoming a great grandpa to the most precious babies he had ever laid his eyes on.

Ed spent his life working hard to provide for his family. Most of his work involved outdoor maintenance and yard work.  The outdoors were Edward’s own paradise.

He spent his entire life doing for others. If you needed him, he was always there, in a cut-off sleeved shirt, no questions asked. He was the epitome of selflessness, giving, and sacrificing for others. He gave all of himself in every way possible.  He loved fishing, gardening, listening to old Texas country music, and just having a good time with his family and friends.

Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 45 years, Nancy Hohhertz. His daughter Gina Hughes and husband Billy, son Walt Hohhertz and wife Kim, and son Robert Hohhertz and wife Charity.  Seven grandkids Sierra Belanger and husband Joseph, Cheyenne Lewis and husband Ron, Mickayla Hohhertz, Reece Hohhertz, Canyon Hughes, Ethan Hohhertz, and Ryder Hohhertz. Four great grandkids Bentlee Hughes, Weston Lewis, Natalie Belanger, and Ryan Belanger.  His uncles Victor Hohhertz, and Aubrey Richter and wife Dorothy, and aunt Inez Richter, sister Lea Alston and husband Fred, brother Clay Sams and wife Paulette, sister Nelda Covington and husband Glenn, sister Sue Specht and husband Gary, and also numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.

Ed’s passion was his family and he always loved them well!  He will be greatly missed. His smile will continue to shine down on us, and his contagious laughter will always be in our hearts.

Visitation will be 6-8 Tuesday May 28 at First United Methodist Church of Moody.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Moody Volunteer Fire Department or 1St Methodist Activity Center Youth Fund.
