On the morning of January 24, 2019, Edgar Frances Thornton of Belton, TX residing in Victoria, TX, went to be with Jesus at the age of 94.
Services will be held on Friday, February 1st, 2019 at 10am at Dossman Funeral Home in Belton, TX.
Graveside Services will be held at the North Belton Cemetery, 1500 N Main St. Belton, TX 76513 directly after the services at Dossman Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Dossman Funeral Home.
Mr.Thornton was born in Killeen, the son of Julia Thornton and Thomas Edward Thornton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946 during World War II receiving Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Ribbon, Japan Victory Ribbon, and two overseas service bars. He retired from the civil service in 1983, then enjoyed retirement with gardening, bowling, dancing, and would never turn down a game of dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Maurine Thornton, twin brother Edward J. Thornton, and sister Mae Nelson.
Survivors are his son, Jackie Thornton of Temple, TX, two daughters, Judy Radachy and husband Ron Radachy of Lakeview Terrace, CA and Janice Way and husband Mike Way of Victoria, TX; one sister, Doris Brown of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren, Ashley Way, Melissa Oden, Michael McPheeters, Scotty Thornton; four great-grandchildren, Asher Oden, Daisy Oden, Colton Thornton, Hartley Thornton; one great-great-grandchild, Weston Thornton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mr. Thornton’s church, Covenant Life Center, Victoria, TX (www.clcvictoria.org) or his daughter and son-in-law’s ministry to children in Hollywood (www.oasisofhollywood.org).
