Ernest J Malone, Jr.

Ernest Jennings Malone, Jr., (E.J.), 83, of Belton passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at his home in Belton.

Funeral services for Mr. Malone will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 am at James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Burial will follow in North Lawn Cemetery in Salem. A visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Ernest was born on July 29, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ernest Jennings Malone, Sr. and Dorothy Dilworth Malone. He graduated from high school in Salem, Missouri. Mr. Malone served in the US Navy from 1955-1959 on the USS Casa Grande. Ernest married Rebecca Jeannette Boone in 1960. He moved to Belton in 1999 and later married Betty Curl in 2005. Mr. Malone was a real estate agent and later owned a real estate company. He was a member of First Christian Church in Belton where he served as a Deacon and Trustee and was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Ernest was preceded in death by a grandson Clay Malone. He is survived by his wife Betty of Belton, sons Jennings Malone, III of Springfield, Missouri and Monte Malone of Firestone, Colorado, grandsons Miles Malone and Mathew Malone, and half-brother Mike Malone of Lake Ozark, Missouri.

James and Gahr Mortuary in Salem, Missouri is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
